Born with a dislocated hip, Kate is inspired by her own experience to create an approach to orthopedic conditions that is precise, compassionate, and practical. Kate's writings and private practice reflect her synthesis of graduate education in psychology at the University of California, the Tavistock Institute in London, and Antioch University; private practice facilitating body-mind awareness for clients with a variety of needs since 1980; and personal experience of thriving with a partial hip replacement since 1968. Kate works with dedication to bring the joy and power of self knowledge to those with physical challenges, and to elevate the role of patient education and participation in health care.

"My passion is to inspire people to flourish in the face of orthopedic problems, and give them the tools to do so. The methods I use with my clients have been tested and proven effective in reestablishing, improving and maintaining my own mobility, comfort and stamina since my own partial hip replacement in 1968.

I have lived many of the experiences that people in pain are facing. I know intimately the issues of vulnerability, physical instability and uncertainty of outcome.

I also know that one can recover far beyond one's expectations: I have done that and I have helped others do the same."
